Automobiles in German Town Discovered Marked with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Police reported they were contacted by a individual who found a vehicle in Hanau marked with reddish liquid

Around 50 cars have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Cars, walls and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with swastikas, they reported in a release.

Police report they were notified during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual observed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.

The substance had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Law enforcement then found many other marked automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Police report preliminary tests show the fluid was likely human blood.

"There is still no lead as to its source; investigators are not yet cognizant of any harm in relation with the event," they added.

Municipal representatives announced they were attempting "to solve the mystery" and have asked to the community for details.

An important representative stated the attack rendered him speechless and needed to be solved quickly.

"This act hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the extremist attack half a decade ago," he posted on online, referring to the murder of nine people by a gunman focusing on residents of migrant background in February 2020.
