19 of the Russian's 21 victories have been achieved on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev claimed his first trophy for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has had a challenging season, managing just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a setback at the American major.

The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in particular - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with long-time trainer his previous coach.

Now working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set win over challenger Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's initial championship after the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt after March of the previous year.

Success also signifies Medvedev has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one different competitions.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my children together, so to secure a championship is particularly special," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six finals, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.

The player's retrieving play style and regular outbursts on court had prompted observers to question if his capacity to play at the top level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to advance forward and compete positively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

He came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky opponent, taking four of the last five games to go ahead.

The competitors traded breaks in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden tour title, took control to create a third set.

The opponent saved four early opportunities in a tight final set before the champion secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.

Fittingly, he secured the win with a point at the net, with his opponent unable to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
